Every year 1 in 3 people o ver the age of 65 fall and 9,500 deaths occur from falling. It is the leading cause of death from injury and the risk only increases with age. A fall can heavily impact quality of life so we want to help raise awareness and provide prevention resources.

The CDC has pulled together a fall prevention checklist to help consider those easy to overlook areas of a home. We can break them down into five categories: Floor, Bathroom, Bedroom, Stairs & Steps and Kitchen.
Some example questions include:
Are you walking around furniture to move through rooms?
Do you have throw rugs? Are there grips underneath them?
Are high-traffic areas well lit?
Are hand rails in reach?
Finally, remember to keep emergency numbers close by each phone, exercise regularly to establish strength and wear shoes with grips inside and outside.
